Independence, MO – A proposed new expressway in eastern Jackson County could threaten one of the nation's most important Civil War battlefields, not to mention a nursing home, a historic cemetery and the tranquility of a semi-rural lifestyle. The new Battle of the Little Blue finds residents and Civil War buffs trying to win their favorite routes from area governing bodies.
