Kansas City, MO – Japan has closed its consulate in Kansas City. The office closed its doors at the change of the new year after twenty five years of service. The Japanese government is shutting down two of its sixteen consulates in the United States, the other in Anchorage, Alaska, and using the resources to open more offices in China. As KCUR's Kelley Weiss reports, the Kansas City office closing illustrates a larger shift in international economics.
