Storms Pummel Kansas City Area

By Maria Carter

Kansas City, MO – More than 200 homes and businesses in the Kansas City area are damaged following hurricane-force winds, hail, and heavy rain. Authorities say that much of the damage is in the Northland, where power is out to thousands of customers. Kansas City fire officials say some homes have been destroyed and several people were injured, but none seriously. The Salvation Army sent out mobile canteens to Gladstone and Eastern Jackson County to provide food and beverages to area residents as well as police, fire and other first responders.
