A legislative seat scramble is underway in Johnson county after three state senators did not file for re-election. Senator Nick Jordan is running for Congress and Senators Barbara Allen and Dennis Wilson simply aren't running.

With 14 people killed while in their vehicles and savaged by tornadoes, 2008 has turned into the highest annual total of these kinds of deaths in a decade.

Defunded, but not defeated.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
