Kansas City, MO –

  • Passengers scheduled for Amtrak's Southwest Chief from here to Chicago ended up on a bus ride to Galesburg, Illinois. The train is running from Galesburg to Chicago, but BNSF tracks are flooded for the rest of the route. The buses are expected to be in service through Friday.
  • On the Mississippi in Eastern Missouri, a levy was breached near the farming community of Gulfport early this morning. And waters threaten to overflow two dozen more levees.
  • Parts of Johnson's Shut-ins park in southeastern Missouri, flooded in the 2005 collapse of the Taum Sauk Reservoir collapsed, will reopen next week. The campground and trails are still being restored.
  • Missouri honored Highway trooper Hank Bruns today by naming a stretch of highway after him. Bruns died on duty in 1987 when his patrol car crashed into a bridge on icy pavement.
