Kansas City, MO –

  • The Johnson County Sheriff's office conducted a raid today on what officers say is a cockfighting operation at a house about 8 miles west of Olathe. Deputies confiscated about 170 fighting roosters and a large amount of cash.
  • Justice Department figures show Missouri as one of 8 states with declining prison populations.
Judges say the improvement is in part because of a program that focuses on individual recidivism risk factors.
  • Mayor Mark Funkhouser today named Meghan Conger to fill the parks board seat vacated by Frances Semler. Conger formerly lived in midtown, now lives in the Northland, and has been active in civic affairs.

  • No matter what happens in Washington D.C., Kansas City needs KCUR. And KCUR needs you.
