Kansas City, MO – Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser conceded to council members who wanted to delay confirmation of two new members of the TIF commission yesterday, and in the process gave his answer to Councilman Ed Ford's proposal that all candidates for important boards and commissions be approved by council committees before a final vote.

Flu season typically doesn't start until the beginning of October, but area hospitals are already experiencing a spike in cases.

They were once rivals, but now Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh and Kansas Senator Sam Brownback are Republican teammates.

A new committee is studying ways to shore up the state's dwindling unemployment trust fund.
