Actors & Artists Against AIDS Production Combines Humor with Poignancy

When the AIDS epidemic first hit Kansas City, it affected certain communities harder than others, among them, Kansas City's theater community. By Steve Walker

Kansas City, MO – One response came in the form of the grassroots theater group known as as Actors & Artists Against AIDS, whose first production was Larry Kramer's bitter play, "The Normal Heart." The group has performed only sporadically since then but is being revived to focus attention on the disease's changing demographic and the first Kansas City organization it benefited: AIDS WALK Kansas City.
