Kansas City, MO – Kansas City's city council honored the old adage "it takes money to make money" yesterday, voting to pick up the tab for the considerable expenses related to hosting the 2012 All-Star Game.

The special session called by Governor Jay Nixon has begun, although most Missouri lawmakers skipped opening session.

In the NBA draft, two underclassmen from the University of Kansas were chosen in the first round. But the biggest surprise was the one KU player who was not selected.

The University of Kansas is still trying to add up the damage after heavy rain flowed into the basement of the school's rec center.

First lady Michelle Obama will headline the NAACP convention in Kansas City next month.
