KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Underfunded public pensions are a national problem, but it is being felt more immediately in Kansas because of Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback's proposal to shift money away from public school classrooms and into teachers' retirement benefits.

Civil rights groups are opposing a plan to change the Kansas Human Rights Commission.

Missouri highway crews are on the lookout for potholes on state roads amid the rising and falling temperatures of late winter.

All three teams from this area--Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri--are in the field of 68 for the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
