Walker's Three to See: Page One: Inside The New York Times

KCUR Arts Reporter Steve Walker shares his top movie pick of the week.News junkies - especially regular readers of The New York Times - should be warned that Andrew Rossi's wonderful and funny documentary will produce euphoria. Rossi was given unprecedented access to a company one would think would shy away from such peek-a-boo journalism, and that makes the movie all the more delicious. Many contemporary issues arise: about the abyss between consumers who constrict their media to on-line sources versus those who don't mind a little ink stains on their fingers; the way aggregate media sites debase old-school media yet disingenuously troll those sources for their own glory; and the Wikileaks scandal. Amid all the paper's staff members that allow their thoughts and opinions to surface, one star emerges: media columnist and reporter David Carr, whose personal journey from crack head to single parenthood deserves a movie all its own. The fascinating result feels like a V.I.P. pass into what many (me among them) consider hallowed ground. (Glenwood Arts)
