KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With 20 suspected or confirmed heat-related deaths in the Kansas City area since mid-June, Kansas City Mayor Sly James and Health Department officials held a news conference to issue a second warning about the heat.

Interstate 70 west of Topeka was closed due to a standoff between police and the driver of a motor home.

Sprint's second-quarter results worsened. The Overland Park wireless carrier released results today that show it posted a loss of $847 million.

Kansas City's main park on the plaza has gotten a makeover. The city recently installed orange and light-gray colored exercise equipment at four different stations in Mill Creek Park.

The Kansas Arts Commission will hold its first meeting next week since Governor Sam Brownback's appointees became a majority of the panel's 12 members.

The Kansas City Royals were overpowered by the Boston Red Sox yet again last night, falling 12-5.
