Kansas City, MO – Kansas City jazz musician Russ Long died of heart failure on New Years Eve 2006, a few weeks after celebrating the release of "Time to Go: The Music of Russ Long." This CD of 13 original compositions covers more than four decades. Bassist Gerald Spaits, a long-time bandmate of Long's, produced and co-arranged the CD. he talks with KCUR's Lee Ingalls about Long's final recording and his musical legacy.
