Cross-Continent Musical Collaboration Born on Facebook

Kelly Myers is in marketing and product development at Sprint, but she's always had a penchant for songwriting. This past year, an online encounter with a musician on the other side of the world, has finally allowed her to produce the kind of music that she wanted to create.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – When Kelly Myers began collaborating with Jose Hendrix, a singer in the Democratic Republic of Congo, her songs were transformed from romantic American pop to a kind of Afro-Latin dance music. Hendrix is now here in Kansas City to launch their new album, Embrace the Earth, which he and Myers produced via email.

Jose Hendrix will perform songs from his new album Embrace the Earth at a benefit concert next Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Crosstown Station.
