KCUR's Band Of The Week: Alicia Solo

Alicia Solo
Alicia Solo releases her new EP on April 20.

As the dynamic singer of the now-defunct Beautiful Bodies, Alicia Solombrino was a whirlwind front person, displaying as much energy with her free-spirited stage antics as any contemporary Kansas City musician.

Now Alicia Solo is launching her own career. The three songs on her new EP Solo are more dance-oriented than the material on Beautiful Bodies’ 2015 Battles, released by the eminent indie-rock label Epitaph Records. Solo's new songs are hot-blooded dance-pop in the vein of successful groups like Kitten, Metric and Bleachers.

In honor of her featured status this week, here's “Fevah”:

Alicia Solo, 9 p.m. Thursday, April 20 at the Encore Room (adjacent to the Uptown Theater), 3700 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri, 64111; 816-753-8665.
