Storyteller Noa Baum

Excerpts from a recent performance of storyteller Noa Baum about a Palestinian-Israeli friendship.By Sylvia Maria Gross

Kansas City, MO – Two women grew up in Jerusalem ? but cultural and physical walls kept them apart. One is Palestinian, the other, a Jewish Israeli. But in California, they have the opportunity to meet, and eventually share their experiences. Storyteller Noa Baum created a performance from the story of their friendship. On Monday, she presented the one-woman show ?A Land Twice Promised? at the American Heartland Theater.

After the performance, Baum answered questions. The audience, which included Muslim and Jewish families, wanted to know about more of these types of getting-to-know-you projects. One woman asked Baum how she developed the story.

Israeli actress and storyteller Noa Baum seeks to build bridges of understanding and compassion between East and West, Arab and Jew, past and present.
