The Arts Council's Harlan Brownlee Faces Challenges Ahead for the Arts

The economic meltdown has cities, counties, and states desperate to save money. It's pretty hard to scrimp on some things, like road salt, but in times like these public art and arts organizations can look like unaffordable luxuries. That's not how Harlan Brownlee sees it. By Laura Spencer

Kansas City, MO – That's not how Harlan Brownlee sees it. With more than 20 years of experience in arts education, including serving as executive director of Kansas City Young Audiences, he's about to take over as the new President and CEO of the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City.
