Search Of Kansas Flood Waters Still Underway For Missing Man

There is not a trace of  the Overland Park man missing since he left home Sunday, saying he wanted to look at flood waters of Indian Creek, according to police. The second day of a watery search took up most of the daylight hours.

The search has been for 36 year old Jeffrey Bridge.

Waters were still running high, over rocks and against rocky ledges along the waterway that runs through south-central Johnson County, Kansas and across  the Missouri  state line into the Blue River.

Heavy weekend rains  had swollen  the twisting creek to higher than normal levels.

Overland Park  Fire Department’s  Swift Water Team members were wearing hip waders, protective gear, carrying long pike poles to probe under trees and rocks in and along creek banks.  They walked next to each other in water that was often armpit deep.

In video taken by Jason Rhodes of the fire department you could see how rugged is the terrain.

There is fear, but no confirmation  Bridge is in the creek. Police said  he had left  wallet, cell phone and car keys behind for the short walk from  his parent’s home   at 105th and Conser to the  creek late Sunday.

Rhodes says   a public works  crew will pull apart a high brush pile not far from Conser.   As sundown of  day two of the search approached there was still no evidence of the man.
