Kansas City, Kan. Mark Holland will succeed outgoing Mayor Joe Reardon. Holland received 56 percent of the vote; his opponent, Unified Government commissioner Ann Murguia, received 44 percent.
Lawrence, Kan. In the City Commission race, the top three vote winners earned seats: Mike Amyx, Jeremy Farmer, and Terry Riordan. The Lawrence Journal-World also reports the school bond issue passed (8,013 yes, 3,082 no).
Roeland Park, Kan. Voters chose Joel Marquardt, with 70 percent of the vote, over Linda Mau.

Clay County (election results)
Excelsior Springs, Mo. Voters approved restrictions on smoking, with 60 percent of the vote. According to The Kansas City Star, "City officials have said that, if voters approved the idea of prohibiting smoking in in those areas, then work could begin on a specific ordinance."
Jackson County (election results)
Kansas City, Mo. Question 1: Kansas City's health levy, a property tax levy for indigent care and ambulance service, was renewed with 76 percent of the vote. Question 2: A ballot measure requiring nonprofits to pay a city hotel convention tax also passed with 78 percent of the vote. Question 3: Voters decided against a measure (77 percent no, 23 percent yes) that would have prohibited city assistance for businesses supplying parts for nuclear weapons.
Platte County (election results)
Raymore, Mo. Incumbent mayor Peter Kerckhoff won, with 78 percent of the vote, against City Councilman Jeffrey Adams.
