KCUR and its reporters received multiple honors in the 2021 Missouri Broadcasters Association Awards.
Recognitions include:
- Aviva Okeson-Haberman, Luke Martin, Frank Morris, and Peggy Lowe (editor: Maria Carter): First place, News Series, Large Market Radio for the news series KC Remembers
- Aviva Okeson-Haberman: First place, Feature Reporting, Large Market Radio for KS/MO Politicians on TikTok
- Greg Echlin: Second place, Large Market Radio, Sports Reporting for Monarchs Pitcher Honored by Hometown Where Police Killed His Father
- Station Website: Second place, Best Local Website.
The annual MBA Awards competition is sponsored by the Missouri Broadcasters Association. Awards were provided for work produced from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021.
Awardees were recognized at the MBA Convention, held virtually on Aug. 7. A complete list of awardees can be found here.
These awards follow last week’s multiple awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, the Pulitzer Prize for Audio Reporting won by KCUR’s Chris Haxel in June, and five Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in May.
