Caroline Ballard came to Wyoming Public Radio in 2014 after earning a Master of Science degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She serves as the station’s Morning Edition host, as well as newsroom editor.

Ballard’s reporting has focused on women, politics and the arts. In 2016, her project  Women Run the West, which examined the representation of women in western politics, was selected to be a part of the inaugural NPR Story Lab. Her stories have been featured on programs such as NPR’s Morning Edition, NPR newscasts and APM’s Marketplace.

In 2015, Ballard helped create and launch the Wyoming Public Media podcast  HumaNature. She continues to serve as host and producer for the show, which has been featured on more than 100 public radio stations and profiled by outlets like  Poynter and  HowSound. Her work as lead producer and host on the episode  Through the Keyhole  earned a 2018 first place PRNDI (Public Radio News Directors Inc.) for Best Podcast.

In her spare time, Ballard is an active Laramie community member. She teaches step aerobics at the local recreation center and serves as judges’ chair for Distinguished Young Women of Wyoming, a scholarship program. She enjoys cooking, reading and spending time with her husband and rescue dog.
