Lippmann returned to her native St. Louis after spending two years covering state government in Lansing, Michigan. She earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and followed (though not directly) in Maria Altman's footsteps in Springfield, also earning her graduate degree in public affairs reporting. She's also done reporting stints in Detroit, Michigan and Austin, Texas. Rachel likes to fill her free time with good books, good friends, good food, and good baseball.

St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones signed legislation directing $1 million in federal coronavirus relief funds to help people cover the logistical cost of accessing abortion. Attorney General Eric Schmitt says the proposal violates a state law banning the use of public funds to assist with abortions.

A grand jury indictment unsealed on Thursday accuses St. Louis Board of Aldermen President Lewis Reed, as well as former Alderman John Collins-Muhammad and Alderman Jeffrey Boyd, of taking payments in return for their support for development deals.

A state hearing panel was asked to issue a reprimand, the lowest level of formal disciplinary action, to St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner. It will issue its decision in the next 30 days, though the Missouri Supreme Court will have the final say.

William Tisaby faced seven felony counts in relation to his conduct in the 2018 investigation of Gov. Eric Greitens, including allegations that Tisaby lied during a deposition. He was sentenced to a year of probation following his plea Wednesday.

On the Democratic side, Marine veteran Lucas Kunce, former state Sen. Scott Sifton and businessman Spencer Toder filed for the Senate seat of the retiring Roy Blunt on Tuesday.
