Robert Garcia

Robert Garcia is the Executive Producer of NPR Newscast, the unit that provides the most listened-to content in public radio with 28.6 million listeners each week. Garcia oversees the production and broadcast of 37 live newscasts Mondays through Fridays, and 24 each day on Saturdays and Sundays.

Robert is a broadcast news veteran with 42 years in the journalism business. He has been an anchor and news Director at local, commercial stations and Executive Producer of CBS Radio overseeing Washington coverage for the CBS owned and operated all-news stations across the country. He was Vice President and General Manager of the CNN Radio network for eight years, Washington Bureau Chief for ABC News Radio for three years then head of news coverage for ABC Radio in New York for two years. He has spent most of the past decade running NPR's Newscast unit in Washington, D.C. Robert is a past Chairman of the Radio Television Digital News Association and in 2016, received the RTDNA Foundation's 1 st Amendment Service award for contributions to the industry in a managerial, off-air capacity.

Robert lives in the Washington area with his wife and their two amazing dogs, Suki, a dignified Shiba Inu and Penny, a Pomchi/adorable ball of energy. Robert is a singer-songwriter and a dedicated fan of the Washington Capitals and Nationals.
