Pitch staff writer David Hudnall (left) joined host Brian Ellison on KCUR's Statehouse Blend Missouri.

Did Missouri Senate President Pro Tem Ron Richard sponsor a bill to help a Joplin business avoid a costly lawsuit in exchange for hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign donations?

In back-to-back interviews on Statehouse Blend Missouri, two Missouri lawmakers have suggested an investigation would be appropriate in light of Richard's introduction of Senate Bill 5 and his receiving, before and after, donations from David Humphreys, president and CEO of Tamko Building Products.

KCUR has been covering the story. In this episode of the podcast, we delve into the bill, the lawsuit, the legislators' claims (and possible motivations) and the Senate president pro tem's response.
