Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is scheduled to be sworn in for a fourth term on Thursday, but he remains in Cuba undergoing treatment for cancer. In a very loose interpretation of the constitution, the government is prepared to inaugurate him later. The opposition says the constitution is being violated.

Park University backs off push for Kansas City to transfer land to Parkville — for now
The university had asked Kansas City to redraw boundaries to transfer 80 acres from Kansas City to Parkville, putting its whole campus and nearby undeveloped property within the same city. But Kansas City staff recommended denying the request.
Columbia's diversity efforts under investigation by Missouri Attorney General
Andrew Bailey said the investigation was prompted by reports from Columbia residents alleging racial discrimination. His office requested public records about the use of terms like “racial equity toolkit,” “racial equity lens” and “equity” in city operations.
