Segment 1: The Kansas City Public Library has joined a movement toward eliminating late fees.

Following the announcement that the Kansas City Public Library is no longer charging late fees, we dig into the reasoning behind the decision, as well as the larger movement it's a part of.

  • Crosby Kemper III, executive director, Kansas City Public Library
  • Ramiro Salazar, president, Public Library Association, director, San Antonio Public Library

Segment 2: A Kansas City novelist collects stories about texting wrong numbers.

Adib Khorram is participating in the book launch for his friend's new young adult novel, Technically You Started It; one of their promotions has involved collecting wrong number texting stories on social media. We have extended the call for stories to our listening audience.

  • Adib Khorram, author, Darius The Great Is Not Okay
People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
