Kansas City, MO – Kansas U.S. Senate Candidates

Jim Slattery had little trouble winning the Kansas Democratic Senate nomination but his race against incumbent Republican Senator Pat Roberts has been an uphill battle. The latest Rasmussen Reports poll shows Roberts with a substantial lead over the former U.S. Representative.

On this October 7, 2008 edition of Up to Date, host Steve Kraske speaks with Slattery in our show's first half and Roberts in our second half about their views on the economy, the budget, energy and other issues facing Kansas and the nation. We also took questions from callers for the candidates as they headed into the final weeks of their campaigns.
