Making A Plan For The End

Bioethics is a heavy issue to the average person, and most of us prefer not to think about death. But having a plan in place for when the worst happens is crucial.

On Friday's Up to Date, we're broadcasting live from the Kansas City University of Medicine & Biosciences. We talk with bioethicist Margaret Battin about making your wishes known, right-to-die issues and the sticky legal situation that surrounds euthanasia. We also explore her personal experience with these issues, which arose when her husband was suddenly paralyzed in a biking accident.

Guest

  • Peggy Battin, bioethicist

More information:  The blog that followed Peggy and Brooke's journey from his accident through his death can be found here.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
