As the U.S. struggles with the thousands of "border kids" crossing its southern boundaries, one organization in Kansas City, Kansas is working with families in Latin America to help children remain in their own communities.

In this edition of Up to Date Steve Kraske talks with Brenda Rush of Unbound about its approach to creating safer conditions and social safety nets for families living in regions where access to food, education, and health care can mean the difference between keeping children at home or sending them on a perilous journey to America.

Guest:

  • Brenda Rush is Administrative Director for International Programs at Unbound.
