It includes a 21-sax salute at Lincoln Cemetery where Parker is buried. The Fish Fry’s Chuck Haddix joins Steve Kraske  to talk about the American Jazz Museum and Kansas City's commemoration of the life and times of Charlie “Bird” Parker.

Event:
The Charlie Parker tour with Chuck Haddix departs from 18th and Vine at 1pm Saturday, August 16. Get your tickets here.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
