Mortician Encourages Embracing Our Mortality
Death may be inevitable, but that does not lessen our fear of it. Mortician and author, Caitlin Doughty, looks to transform our fears of our own mortality. On this edition of Up to Date, Doughty talks with Steve Kraske about what it's like to work with the dead, how our culture has chosen to hide death, and why understanding the funeral business can lead us to embrace our own mortality.
- Caitlin Doughty is the founder of The Order of the Good Death, host of the popular web series Ask a Mortician, and author of the new book Smoke Gets In Your Eyes: and Other Lessons from the Crematory.
Hear More: Caitlin Doughty will discuss her book, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, 6:30pm tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 4th) at the Kansas City Central Library. To reserve a seat go to kclibrary.org.
