The Origins Of Political Order

Across the globe, distinct political institutions and governing mechanisms have developed, but how and when did political order even begin? Starting with our primate ancestors through the eve of the French Revolution, we look at how our politics continue to evolve — or not — today.

Guest:

  • Professor Francis Fukuyama is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for International Studies at Stanford and director of the Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law.

Dr. Fukuyama will speak at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library as part of Park University's Hauptmann Distinguished Lecture Series. For information, visit www.park.edu

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
Kansas City needs journalists who show up not just on people’s worst days, but on their best ones — and the boring ones in between. I build relationships across the metro, so our newsroom can bring you critical information when times are tough, and seek out moments of joy to celebrate. Email me at lisa@kcur.org.
