Navigating A World Of Endless Choice

We live in a world filled with options. We’re constantly being asked to “like” or “dislike,” but what are we missing out on when everything is being catered to our preferences?

Guests:

  • Nolan Gasser is a recognized composer, pianist, musicologist and most notably, the architect of Pandora Radio’s Music Genome Project.
  • Tom Vanderbilt is a journalist and the author of You May Also Like: Taste in an Age of Endless Choice.

Tom Vanderbilt and Nolan Gasser speak tonight at the Plaza Branch of the Kansas City Public Library as part of the Middle of The Map Fest Ideas Forum. Vanderbilt speaks at 6:30 p.m. and Gasser speaks at 7:15 p.m. For tickets and information, visit middleofthemapfest.com.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
Slow news days are a thing of the past. As KCUR’s news director, I want to cut through the noise, provide context to the headlines, and give you news you can use in your daily life – information that will empower you to make informed decisions about your neighborhood, your city and the region. Email me at lisa@kcur.org.
