Major Garrett has been a White House correspondent since 2012. His new book, "Mr. Trump's Wild Ride," was released in September.

Segment 1: CBS News veteran on Trump's impact: "Washington is still, on a day-to-day basis, knocked off balance."

Few journalists have the depth of experience in covering presidents and presidential campaigns as Major Garrett, but even he admits covering President Donald J. Trump is a whole new playing field. Today, Garrett recalled some of the confrontations he's had with the chief executive who "just loves to be the one who is churning the waters."

Segment 2, beginning at 26:30: Acclaimed jazz virtuoso Vijay Iyer set to perform in Kansas City. 

Upon his inclusion into the 2013 class of MacArthur Fellows (you know, those  "genius" grants), Vijay Iyer was credited with "forging a new conception of jazz and American creative music." Today, he shared his thoughts on jazz as a "contested term," and why he thinks math can be used to describe anything — including music.
