Though they're not as ubiquitous today, you can still see a few historic clocks in the Kansas City metro, dating back to the late 1880s.

Dave Eames and Ben Wine of Fossil Forge want to keep Kansas City’s glowing history on public display. In addition to recreating the 10-foot Katz Drug Store logo, they also plan to restore and display a Town Topic sign, another icon of downtown they don't want lost to a private collection.

The building and its iconic clock tower in Westport will become a luxury amenity center for upscale apartments nearby.

The project died after the developer told a council member that a scaled-back incentive package wouldn't suffice.

The Kansas City Council plans to decide whether to give tax breaks to a project turning Katz Drug Store into an amenities space for an upscale apartment complex Thursday.
