Tom Niermann, left, and Mike McCamon are two of six Democratic contenders in Kansas' August primary election. The winner will challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder in November.

Segment 1: A longtime school teacher and a former tech executive are just two of the Democrats looking to take on Kevin Yoder in November.

Riding the "blue wave" of Democrats entering congressional races across the country are six candidates from Kansas who want to prevent U.S. Representative Kevin Yoder from returning for a fifth term. In the first of three segments featuring the Democratic challengers, we met Tom Niermann and Mike McCamon, who sounded off on Yoder's tenure and President Trump's policy. They also outlined what they believe to be the most pressing issues facing Kansas.

  • Mike McCamon,  Democratic candidate for Kansas' 3rd Congressional District
  • Tom Niermann, Democratic candidate for Kansas' 3rd Congressional District

Segment 2, beginning at 29:26: Archiver remembers candidate Robert F. Kennedy's trip to Kansas.

Bobby Kennedy was following in the footsteps of his brother John when, in March 1968, he made a late entry into the presidential race. His first campaign stop? Two Kansas college towns. This edition of the Archiver podcast explains why RFK felt "The Sudden Need to Run."
