Recent polling shows Sen. McCaskill and Missouri Secretary of State Josh Hawley in a tie.

Segment 1: Chiefs talk, the Kansas City Marathon, UMKC women's soccer and more.

On Saturday, more than 10,000 runners will take to the streets in the annual Kansas City Marathon. It's not the only race happening this weekend, as Kansas Speedway hosts the Hollywood Casino 400. We discussed both races, the state of women's soccer, the Chiefs close loss on Sunday, and we heard breaking news about the Sprint Center as the site for the 2019 U.S. Gymnastics Championship.

Segment 2, beginning at 17:25: Sen. Claire McCaskill discusses her re-election campaign, and the state of partisan politics in Washington.

With just a few weeks until the midterms, Sen. McCaskill joined us in-studio to discuss her re-election campaign. The two-term senator pointed out policies where she and her opponent, Republican Josh Hawley differ, highlighting immigration, pre-existing conditions and maintaining civility in government. She also criticizes opposition ads being run against her.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
