Iraq Trade Delegation Stop in Kansas City

By Maria Carter

Kansas City, MO – An Iraqi trade delegation stopped in Kansas City today as part of a U-S tour to increase understanding of how the U-S wheat market works. KCUR's Maria Carter reports.

No deal was struck today, but the Iraqi trade delegation's Abdul Hadi Al-Hamiri says the tour will help the Iraqi trade ministry and U-S companies figure out how to work together.

Abdul Hadi Al-Hamiri: As you know in here, they sell and buy, in English they say in a Jiffy. Now in our procedures, it takes time

Iraq ranked as the second largest buyer for U-S winter wheat importing more than 2 million metric tons over the past year. But despite this, trade has been stilted by ongoing negotiations over inspections and when payments are received.
