UMKC Investigates Sexual Harassment Suit

By Maria Carter

Kansas City, MO – UMKC officials have spoken out on a sexual harassment suit involving two psychology professors. Yesterday, chancellor Guy Bailey told The Kansas City Star that due to staff shortages and interim and departing personnel, no thorough investigation had ever been conducted. He promised an investigation, and today affirmative action director Grace Hernandez talked about it.

Grace Hernandez: "I just want to assure everyone that this examination will be very thorough, will happen as expeditiously as possible. But if I need to expand it, as much as possible, I will do that."

Faculty Senate Chair Gray Ebersole sent out a letter today emphasizing that the two men should be presumed innocent unless the investigation proves otherwise but reaffirming that the campus must remain harassment and intimidation-free.
