Ceremonial Groundbreaking for UMKC Miller Nichols Library

By Steve Walker

Kansas City, MO – Groundbreaking takes place this afternoon for phase one of UMKC's Miller Nichols Library expansion. KCUR's Steve Bell reports.

UMKC Dean of Libraries Sharon Bostick says the expansion at the south side of the library will feature technology only Hallmark has in this part of the country - an Automatic Storage and Retrieval System - or ASRS.

Sharon Bostick: "I call it the robot within three minutes."

Bostick says the three-story-tall system is so fascinating that windows will be installed on the east and west side of the library so people can stand outside and watch it. Steve Bell, KCUR News.
