The threat of a strike at the GM Fairfax plant is on hold till at least Monday. John Melton, bargaining chairman for Local 31 said enough progress has been made on a contract that supplements the national one that the talks will continue through the weekend. The Kansas Supreme Court said today (FRI) that it will not hear cases involving proposed coal-fired power plants until appeals are completed in lower courts.Cass County has reached an agreement with Aquila that would save the $140 million power plant build without zoning approval from being torn down. Aquila in return agreed to pay $1.8 million in county legal fees and fines.
