  • Edwin Hall entered a guilty plea in the face of overwhelming evidence that he kidnapped, raped and murdered Kelsey Smith. He will be sentenced to life without parole September 16.
  • Mayor Mark Funkhouser pumped gas at a midtown station to encourage people to attend upcoming hearings on a proposed light rail system.
  • The head of the Kansas Lottery Commission says a weak gaming market in a tough economy felled the Woodlands, making it impossible for a slot machine deal to turn a profit.
