The city council has unanimously endorsed a plan for alignment and a 3.8-cent sales tax to support it.The council also announced plans for greater cooperation between the police department and airport police and a new downtown parking meter system that will accept credit cards. The Missouri Democratic Party picked the Independence courthouse to kick off its Fall campaign. About 100 persons gathered, mostly party faithful and union members.Democrats don't know whether they'll be campaigning for Chris Koster or Margaret Donnelly for attorney general. Donnelly's campaign manager says she is likely to demand a recount.
