An exhibition of contemporary European photography at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art explores the relationship between humans and nature. The museum commissioned Guggenheim Award-winning composer Paul Rudy to create a piece in response. By Laura Spencer

Kansas City, MO – In Human/Nature: Recent European Landscape Photography, an exhibition of works dating from 1995 to 2008, some artists take a meditative approach. Others harken back to the romantic tradition of the sublime. And some examine the struggle and adaptability of nature. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art commissioned Guggenheim Award-winning composer Paul Rudy to create a piece in response to the exhibition. It's the first in a series of collaborations between the Nelson-Atkins and UMKC Conservatory of Music and Dance.
