Kansas City, MO – Some Kansas City area relief agencies are in place to help victims of Hurricane Gustav, due to arrive on the Gulf coast this morning.

Missouri officials say eight designated shelters around the state are now on standby for evacuees from Hurricane Gustav.

The Kansas City Community Blood Center is reporting that its blood supply is at a critical level.

University of Kansas Chancellor Robert Hemenway says higher education in Kansas would suffer if the state forces colleges and universities to cut 7 percent from their budgets in the next two years.
