Redistricting Agreement For Missouri Senate Reached

A tentative agreement has been reached on a new redistricting map for the Missouri Senate.  A bipartisan commission appointed by Governor Jay Nixon (D) to draw a new map negotiated for more than 13 hours neogtiations.  The "Tentative Plan" map can be viewed here.  Read more about the details here.

Council Delays Decision On Anti-Nuke Initiatives

A city council committee heard pros and cons of two ballot initiatives from a no nukes organization but postponed a decision on whether they will go to the voters.  One of the two Peace Planters initiatives focuses on plans for the nearly completed Botts Road plant when its days of making parts for nuclear weapons are over. The other would end any city financial involvement in the plant and prohibit any future nuclear weapons factories.  Find out more here.

Kansas Receives Five Bids to Manage Medicaid

The State of Kansas has received bids from five private, managed care organizations seeking a share of the Kansas Medicaid program.  Listen to the story here.

Kansas House Moves Up Voter Citizenship Date

The Kansas House has endorsed a plan that would require some potential voters to prove their US citizenship before the November election. The bill moves ahead a requirement for people to prove citizenship when registering to vote for the first time in Kansas. That law is currently set to take effect in January 2013. The House bill would move it to June of this year.  Read more here.
