KCUR's Laura Ziegler talks with experts about how the recent salmonella outbreak happened and how it could have been prevented.

Plus, a look at the new Animal Health Corridor. A cluster of more than 100 companies from Manhattan, Kan., to Columbia, Mo., along with several universities are working together to improve animal health and food safety.

The state and local government are pouring money into the project to promote economic development. One of the projects they are working on is developing a vaccine that will curb salmonella.
