KCUR intern, summer 2026Cassandra Isobelle Flores is the 2026 summer newsroom intern for KCUR.
Born in the Philippines and now residing in Kansas City, Flores will graduate from the University of Missouri–Kansas City in December 2027 with a dual degree in sociology and communications. She previously interned for the school’s student-run publication, Roo News, and will serve their 2026-27 editorial team next semester.
Flores does freelance illustration in her free time, but you can also find her restaurant hopping around Kansas City.

The Kansas City Plan Commission unanimously approved the rezoning in an Aug. 5 meeting, making way for a $3 billion Royals ballpark district. Planning officials said the zoning request will be the first step in the redevelopment process. -
