Organizers of a "Thank You Lawrence" party say they hope for annual celebrations after the city hosted the Algerian men's national soccer team during the FIFA World Cup this summer.

The final day of the FIFA Fan Festival drew soccer fans from all over as reigning champion Argentina took on Switzerland at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday. Argentina emerged victorious with a 3-1 score over the Swiss.

Team Algeria, which made Lawrence its home base and befriended the community, was knocked out of the tournament after losing 0-2 to Switzerland.
