Tiller Murder Prompts Extra Security

Salina, KS – The murder of a Dr. George Tiller has other abortion providers on their guard. More from Kansas Public Radio's Bryan Thompson.

Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed while ushering at the church he attended in Wichita. The shooting leaves other abortion providers concerned that they too could be targeted.

"Planned Parenthood's paramount concerns are the safety of our staff and patients," says Peter Brownlie, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Kansas City-Mid-Missouri. "We are grateful that a suspect is in custody, but nevertheless we are working closely with law enforcement personnel and taking all appropriate steps to secure our sites."

Planned Parenthood operates 11 clinics across Kansas and Missouri..
